George Stillwell
Chief Officer, Kent Special Constabulary
'Welcome to Kent Special Constabulary. Our team of Specials work alongside their regular colleagues and police community support officers. The work that we do is invaluable to the policing of Kent.
'In an average month, our team of 276 Special Constables will volunteer 8,500 hours of their time to help keep Kent safe.
'After training and attestation, Special Constables have the same powers as their regular colleagues and perform a variety of duties including community and response policing, special events and operations.
'We are one of only a few forces to use Specials in a parish constable role; this position involves providing a policing presence in small communities.
'I have been a serving Special Constable for 38 years. Every duty is different and very enjoyable.'
