Woman killed in Thanet Way collision

Car collides with tree in incident near St. Nicholas-at-Wade on Saturday 12 December

Officers are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the A299 Thanet Way in which a young woman was killed and a man seriously injured.

The incident happened near St. Nicholas-at-Wade at 11.15am on Saturday 12 December. The 19-year-old woman was driving a silver-coloured Ford Fiesta on the London-bound carriageway when it left the road and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car's male passenger was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate for treatment.

The road was closed while officers from Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit investigated the cause of the incident. It was reopened at 4.45pm.
