Award-winning police dog 'Oscar' dies

'Bitter blow' for handler, officers and staff

Oscar

Police in Medway are mourning the death of six-year-old ex-police dog Oscar. He was a familiar and welcome sight across Medway.

Oscar and his handler, PC Tim Harris were awarded the Chief Constable's Certificate of Merit in June this year.

A winning team throughout their six-year partnership, Oscar and PC Harris were responsible for over 300 arrests in Medway.

PC Harris said that Oscar's death had come as a bitter blow: "He was very special and excelled as a police dog, a pet and a very good mate."
