Gender action plan consultation

The Kent Police Gender Action Plan is currently being renewed and we would like to know your views on the areas we should be working on.

The next gender action plan will be published in April 2010 and run until April 2013, with updates every year.

Yearly updates

Publishing our priorities yearly, rather then at the end of the three years, means:

  • we can see the results of the government’s specific duties consultation and respond appropriately
  • we have more flexibility to respond to your changing priorities (‘You said, we did)
  • we will be able to synchronise the dates of the disability, gender and race action plans (formerly three individual schemes with action plans, and now the schemes all come under the Single Equality Scheme).

Tell us your priorities

To let us know your views, please email the diversity team with your top three priorities, in any order.

You can also write to us at Diversity support team, Kent Police headquarters, Sutton Road, Maidstone, ME15 9BZ or call 01622 652444.

We would appreciate responses by Monday 15 March 2010 so we can then draw up the plan.

To help you decide on your top three priorities, please see the main actions from our first gender action plan and the areas of concern we are currently working on.

We will carefully review all the responses we receive. This will help us to work out what priorities we set to meet the expectations of people across Kent in delivering our services and for our employees.

Involvement

We will consult with our strategic and local Independent Advisory Groups, our staff support group (Kent Network of Women), the service’s Gender Action group and our Transgender e-forum.
