The purpose of a publication scheme is to make sure that a significant amount of information is made available without the need for anyone to make a formal request for information.

The Kent Police publication scheme has been designed in accordance with the model publication scheme introduced by the Information Commissioner's Office on 1 January 2009.  They have also published a document outlining information that should be included in a police force publication scheme.

Exemptions

We aim to publish as much information as possible on subjects where there is known to be public interest. However, exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act may prevent some information being released.

We are committed to protecting the communities we serve, preventing and detecting crime. Therefore it is recognised that releasing certain information would not be in the public interest. Information concerning ongoing investigations, investigative methods, intelligence and the use of related operational techniques must be protected as they are central to the maintenance of a safe and just society.
