The principle behind neighbourhood policing is to provide dedicated, accessible and visible policing teams that respond to the needs of local communities.

Neighbourhood policing teams are led by police officers but involve a number of roles including: special constables, police community support officers, council wardens, volunteers and others. 

Police community support officers, or PCSOs, are professionally trained civilians working for Kent Police.

Neighbourhood policing in Kent

We are rolling-out neighbourhood policing across the county and now have established teams serving your area.

Neighbourhood teams are already working closely with residents, businesses and community groups to address local problems such as anti-social behaviour and environmental nuisance.

Access

We have six mobile police stations for people to use who don't have easy access to a police station.

What can you do?

You can:

• attend your local surgeries or meetings (find out about these using our online postcode search) 
• get involved in neighbourhood policing by volunteering some of your time as a special constable
• set up a neighbourhood panel to discuss and decide priorities for where you live. Read our handbook which offers advice on setting up and co-ordinating a panel.

Crime mapping (statistics)

You can now get crime figures for where you live at the touch of button with our new online crime statistics section.

The new crime mapping section means everyone will be able to immediately access crime figures for various types of offences, down to ward level.
