Policy documents

Our policies set out current statements of principle providing guidance and direction to Kent Police officers and staff about a specific issue or piece of legislation. They contain broad expectations and are the framework from which procedure flows. They set out expected organisational behaviour in line with organisational objectives leading to a consistent approach to decision making.

Please note that some of the material in the ‘policy’ class is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act. This means that it should not be published in the public interest, for example, if its release would compromise the health and safety of staff or investigations and proceedings or law enforcement. If this is the case, the material will clearly show where information has been withheld.
