Reporting hate crime and incidents

Why report hate crime?

Your information may:

• help us catch and prosecute the offender
• stop it happening to someone else
• help us identify patterns of behaviour or hotspots and put our resources in the right place to deal with them
• provide a true picture of what is happening in your community
• help us develop projects to combat hatred towards people

What can I report?

Report any incident where:

• you feel you, or someone else, has been targeted because of your personal characteristics or
• you believe it was motivated by hatred i.e. graffiti, bullying or verbal abuse

If you have experienced hate crime, record as much information as possible. Find out what's useful to record.

We know hate crimes and incidents are significantly underreported. Please have the confidence in us to report them.
