How to report an incident or contact Kent Police

 

In an emergency

Dial 999

You should dial 999 when:

  • life is threatened
  • people are injured
  • crime is in progress
  • offenders are nearby

999 should be used when immediate help is needed.


Call 112

112 is the single emergency number for countries in the European Union. As a European citizen, you can call 112 to contact the emergency services.


Deaf or speech-impaired? Text us

Text videoIf you're Deaf or speech-impaired, you can text Kent Police.

Start the message with the word 'police' then leave a space and write your message including what and where the problem is.

Send your text to 60066 (the Kent Police communications centre) and we will reply with a message. If you don't receive a message quickly, please try one of the other methods of communication on this page.

Non-urgent incidents

Call 01622 690690 when:

  • there is no immediate danger to life
  • the crime isn’t in progress and the offender isn’t nearby

Examples of non-urgent incidents are:

  • ‘my bike has been stolen’
  • ‘my car has been vandalised’
  • ‘I think I’ve found some stolen property’
  • ‘I was in a minor traffic accident yesterday’

Contact your local council

Your local council deals with a range of issues including clearing flytipped rubbish, dealing with dog fouling and cleaning away graffiti.

Accessibility

All Kent Police telephone numbers are accessible through Typetalk. People using Textphones to make a call should dial 18001 followed by the full telephone number.

People calling a textphone should add 18002 followed by the full telephone number.

 

Online

You can report the following minor crimes online:

  • motor vehicle crime (except stolen vehicles)
  • criminal damage
  • stolen property

At a police station

You can visit any police station during open times to report a non-urgent crime.

At any police station, you can request a private room to discuss issues of a sensitive nature.

Reporting hate crime

Hate crime is any offence committed against a person or property that is motivated by the offender’s hatred of people who are seen as being different. You can be a victim of hate crime because of your race, religion, disability, age, sexuality or gender. Report it.
 

Terrorism - if you suspect it, report it

If something strikes you as suspicious and out of place then trust your instincts and call the police on 999 or the anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789321. Find out more about counter terrorism at Kent Police.
