Kent Police is trying to trace a woman who witnessed an alleged theft in Marks & Spencer in St George’s Street, Canterbury.
The woman saw a customer distract the cashier by asking for some change and sticking it in his pocket, before deciding to cancel the request for change.
The offender left the store with £40 before the cashier realised it had not been returned.
It happened at 3pm on Sunday 28 October.
The woman, who was behind the offender in the queue at the checkout, is asked to contact PC Jemma Truelove from the neighbourhood policing team on 101 quoting crime reference ZY/31126/12.
