Police investigate thefts from two tills in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells

Police believe two reports may be linked

Detectives investigating a report of a robbery and an attempted theft in the west of the county are appealing for the public’s help.

On 13 November at around 3:45pm, a man is reported to have taken money from the till of a furniture shop in Mount Pleasant Road in Tunbridge Wells. When challenged by a member of staff, he is reported to have threatened her, before making off.

Blue body warmer

The suspect is described as being a white man, 5ft 11in tall, 35-45 years-old, with short black hair and clean shaven. He was wearing a bright red long-sleeved top, a blue padded body warmer, blue jeans and white trainers.

Earlier in the day, at around 3:05pm, a similar incident occurred at a hair salon in the High Street in Tonbridge. The man, who was of a similar description, was disturbed and left empty-handed. No one was hurt in either incident.

Detectives believe the incidents are linked and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

Other shoppers

Detective Constable James Chichester from Kent Police said: ‘There were other shoppers in the furniture store when the robbery is reported to have occurred, and we would like to speak to them to see if they can provide any additional information. I would ask anyone with any information to contact me so to help further the investigation.’
