Medway

Medway has a unitary authority that is independent of Kent County Council. Medway is included in the Thames Gateway Development Scheme. The area has a large student population due to the universities in the town. It is popular with tourists visiting landmarks such as Rochester Cathedral, Rochester and Upnor Castles and the Historic Dockyard. It is also home to Gillingham Football Club. It has excellent railway links and access to major road networks including the M2 and M20 as well as an airport at Rochester.
