1.1. This policy has been reviewed in March 2022 - no amendments to content have been made.
2.2. This policy applies to all Kent Police Employees (PSEs) engaged in the taking and subsequent use of detainee images.
Compliance with this policy and any linked procedures is mandatory.
3.1. The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance on the taking of detainee images, the basis on which they can be taken, the subsequent use of such images, particularly where the image relates to an offence for which, at the time, the subject remains not convicted and the retention and disposal of such images.
4.1. All officers engaged in the taking and subsequent use of detainee images should be aware of this policy.
4.2. An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) has been carried out and shows the proposals in this policy would have no potential or actual differential impact on grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, transgender, disability, age, religion or belief or sexual orientation.
5.1. This policy should be reviewed every two years to allow for changes in the law. The next review is scheduled for March 2024.
6.1. Kent Police has measures in place to protect the security of your data in accordance with our Information Management policy (Policy W1000 – Information Management).
7.1. Kent Police will hold data in accordance with our Records Review, Retention and Disposal policy (Policy W1012 – Records Review, Retention and Disposal).
