2.1 This policy relates to police investigations of unexpected and suspicious deaths in Kent.
Compliance with this policy and any linked procedures is mandatory.
3.1. This policy will provide instruction for police officers and staff involved in the initial response to, and investigation of, all reports of unexpected or suspicious death. It will also highlight when a major crime senior investigating officer or partner agencies should be consulted.
4.1. Risk assessment
4.1.1. This policy has been assessed as high risk.
4.2. Equality Impact Assessment (EIA)
4.2.1. An EIA has been carried out. As a result this policy has been given a medium impact score.
6.1. Several force meeting/debrief structures are in place that will drive any changes in policy as and when required. They include the senior detective conferences, domestic homicide reviews, serious case reviews and major crime debriefs.
6.2. This policy will be reviewed yearly with the next review taking place in April 2025.
7.1. Kent Police have measures in place to protect the security of your data in accordance with our Information Management policy.
8.1.Kent Police will hold data in accordance with our Records Review, Retention and Disposal policy.
