3.1 The purpose of this policy is to outline the procedures that Kent Police follows on receipt of requests for service.
Compliance with this policy and any linked procedures is mandatory.
4.1. The force will provide fair access to our services at times and by means that are reasonable and suitable to the customer.
4.2. Requests for service will be evaluated and, where relevant, 'graded' in line with guidance provided within the police service ‘national contact management principles and guidance' and force policing priorities.
4.3. Overarching the above, Kent Police assess all requests for service utilising the THRIVE principles. THRIVE is a mnemonic for threat, harm, risk, investigation, vulnerability and engagement. Where a particular force policy, internal working practice or national guidance suggest the grading and/or nature of our response, application of the THRIVE principles against the specific circumstances may determine that a different response is more appropriate to the individual and the investigation.
4.4. Details of how to contact police and police station opening times will be published on the Kent Police website.
5.1. Training - police officers and police staff members who are likely to receive or investigate requests for service will receive appropriate training.
5.2. Risk assessment - this policy has been assessed as medium risk.
5.3. Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) - this policy has been assessed with regard to its relevance to diversity and equality. The policy has been graded as having a medium potential impact.
