2. Date, time and venue of the hearing: Thursday 17 September 2026 in the County Room, Kent Police Force Headquarters, Sutton Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME15 9BZ commencing at 10am.
3. The conduct and how that conduct is alleged to amount to gross misconduct: It is alleged that the officer has failed to give accurate information to the custody sergeant on arrest of a detained person and that he failed to safeguard young children at an address.
A/PS Lewis is alleged to have breached the Standards of Professional behaviour relating to:
Honesty and integrity: In that they failed to give an honest account to the Custody Sergeant.
Duties and responsibilities: In that they failed to ensure the safeguarding of the children at the address.
Orders and instructions: In that they failed to comply with policy.
Discreditable conduct: In that their behaviour as set out above has discredited the police service and/or undermined public confidence in it.
It is alleged that these matters individually and/or collectively amount to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour that, if proved, is so serious A/PS Lewis dismissal would be justified.
The Chair of the hearing has imposed the following conditions:-
1) The taking of photographs and the use of visual or sound recording equipment during the hearing or by attendees whilst on police premises is prohibited, except for official purposes by the Professional Standards Department.
2) Any form of live streaming or live use of social media within the hearing is prohibited.
