Chief Constable Tim Smith
For some years now, we have been reporting on the gender pay gap within our organisation. Over the years we have, working with staff support associations and the communities we serve, undertaken a huge amount of work to ensure colleagues from under-represented groups feel supported and have a forum to share their views, ideas, and help deliver change across the force. This new and more extensive report to look in greater depth at any disparities will complement the work taking place alongside our staff support associations, to ensure Kent Police is a transparent and fair employer, who supports and gets the best from its people in every aspect. So much exceptional work has gone into making the force a female friendly employer. Nationally almost half of Chief Officers are female. Whilst a pay gap in favour of males still exists, we have seen a positive improvement compared to last year - but we know there is more to be done.
