Assistant Chief Constable (Serious Crime Directorate)

Starting salary £97,563 rising to £110,148 (including car and allowance)

Based at Northfleet Police Station, Kent

The Chief Constables of Kent Police and Essex Police are looking to recruit an exceptional Assistant Chief Constable.

Our Serious Crime Directorate works collaboratively with both Kent Police and Essex Police to identify and tackle serious criminal activity within our neighbourhoods. This includes home grown criminal networks within our own communities and criminals who travel into Kent and Essex to commit offences. The directorate also provides a range of services to support local policing across both counties. 

The Assistant Chief Constable will join an established collaborative directorate covering both forces. You will be responsible for leading and directing one of the largest Serious Crime Directorates in the country. This role will also require you to operate as the Chief Officer for both forces.  

As well as holding the highest levels of operational credibility the successful candidate will:
  • Have a sound and all round local and specialist detective policing expertise with evidence of exceptional operational delivery; this will include the technical skills necessary to effectively lead a range of high risk operations including major crime, serious and organised crime, intelligence, forensics and covert policing.
  • Be an inspirational leader, with the ability to lead and implement change within a complex  environment
  • Be a visionary leader, with a clear ability to connect with officers, staff and key stakeholders at all levels to effectively deliver high quality policing and an excellent, first class serious crime provision to the public of Kent and Essex.
  • Understand the needs and issues arising from policing different communities and be committed to helping both forces deliver diversity in Policing.
  • Demonstrate substantial evidence of their ability to drive, improve and deliver service delivery outcomes whilst making high risk decisions at a strategic level.
  • Be truly committed and passionate about the service provided to the public of Kent and Essex.
