Our Kent and Essex IT Services department provides IT support and development functions to both Kent Police and Essex Police.

We serve a wide and varied customer base, including internal officers and staff, Kent Police and Essex Police and Crime Commissioners and external partners and organisations - not forgetting our ultimate customer, the general public.

Senior Software Developer (JAVA)

Salary: £31,353 - £35,820
Based at Kent Police HQ, Maidstone
 
Joining our software development team, the successful applicant will develop and support innovative and bespoke software solutions used directly by frontline officers and police staff.
 
The successful applicant will be an experienced Java developer with a thorough understanding of relational databases. Experience in some of the following technologies would also be desirable: enterprise Java (J2EE), Hibernate/JPA, JSF, NodeJS, AngularJS, Ionic, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, Cordova, web services, SharePoint, Git/SVN forms development and configuration of a content management system. There will be opportunities to explore new technologies and expand your current skill set through informal mentoring and ‘on-the-job’ learning.
 
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas:
 
•        Experienced Java developer
•        Web based UI design for a variety of form factors
•        HTML, Javascript, CSS skills
•        Experience with web services
•        Version control using Git/SVN
•        Understanding of agile development

Senior Software Developer (ABAP/SAP)

Salary: £31,353 - £36,390
Based at Kent Police HQ, Maidstone


SAP ERP 'ABAP' Programmer wanted. 
We're looking for a keen and enthusiastic senior software developer to join our ERP (SAP) development/programming team. The successful applicant will be primarily developing ABAP functions, to support new and existing SAP Fiori applications. There will be opportunities to explore new technologies and expand your current skill set through informal mentoring and ‘on-the-job’ learning.

The successful candidate MUST have an excellent understanding of ABAP.  Evidence of industry experience using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, web services, Git/SVN, UI design and knowledge of business process mapping would be beneficial. Experience with SAP Workflow. Microsoft office suite would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas:
  • A clear understanding of Object Oriented programming methodologies
  • ABAP development
  • SAP configuration
  • HTML, Javascript, CSS skills
  • Version control using Git/SVN
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Software configuration
  • Working individually and as part of a team
