Witnesses, private CCTV and dashcam footage are sought following a fatal collision in Maidstone.
At around 1pm on Friday 21 November 2025, a silver Volkswagen Passat was travelling along the A229, Royal Engineers Road, towards Maidstone when it was involved in a collision with a man riding a blue mobility scooter.
The incident happened at a pedestrian crossing near Maidstone Library.
Emergency services attended the scene and the person using the mobility scooter, a man in his 80s, was taken to a London hospital, where he died from his injuries on the following day. His next of kin have been informed.
The car driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
An investigation by Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is underway. Anyone who saw the incident, or events leading up to it, is urged to contact police.
