Appeal following serious collision near Maidstone

Private CCTV, dashcam footage and witnesses are sought by officers investigating a serious collision in Mereworth.

Kent Police was called at 4.40pm on Tuesday 18 August 2026 to the incident on the A26 Maidstone Road, close to the junction with Old Church Road.

A white Sinnis Apache motorcycle was being driven towards Tonbridge when it was involved in a collision with a black Ford Fiesta travelling in the opposite direction.

Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, where the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to a London hospital.

He remains there in a serious but stable condition. His next of kin is aware.

Appeal

An investigation is underway and officers are urging witnesses, or anybody who saw either vehicle before the collision, to contact the appeal line.
