Investigators are seeking witnesses to a fatal collision in Hamstreet, near Ashford.
At approximately 3.15pm on Tuesday 13 January 2026, a silver Vauxhall Meriva was travelling south on the A2070 Ashford Road, when it was involved in a collision with a purple Volvo tanker travelling in the opposite direction.
The car then struck a barrier and the tanker jack-knifed, with the tractor unit leaving the carriageway and entering a wooded embankment and an area adjacent to a railway line.
Patrols attended the scene in the vicinity of the overbridge for Poundhurst Road, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
The car driver, a man in his 40s, was confirmed deceased and his next of kin has been informed.
The tanker driver was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries.
Officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the vehicles immediately before the collision.
They are also appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
