Witnesses and dashcam footage are sought after a teenage girl died in a collision on the A249.
The incident happened during the evening of Saturday 24 February, and involved a white Toyota Hilux which had been travelling in the direction of Sittingbourne.
It is reported that at around 6.45pm the Toyota collided with a road barrier and overturned at a location near the junction for Church Hill. No other vehicles were involved.
Patrols attended along with ambulance and fire crews, and a 16-year-old girl died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
A boy, believed to be 15, was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
A 17-year-old boy was also taken to hospital with minor injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken into custody.
Enquiries are being led by Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) and officers are urging drivers with dashcam to check for any important footage.
They also want to speak to anyone who saw collision, or the Toyota in the moments leading up to it.
Anyone with information should contact SCIU on 01622 798538, quoting reference RY/HG/021/24. You can also email [email protected]
