Nearly 20 charges of theft have been secured against four women connected to an alleged shoplifting spree across Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells.
Kent Police was called just before 4.45pm on Saturday 6 April 2024 to a report of a theft from Space NK in Sevenoaks High Street. It is alleged a group of women entered the store, took items from the shelves, and left without paying.
Proactive patrols from the Roads Policing Unit later spotted a vehicle suspected to be involved with the incident entering Essex via the Dartford Crossing.
Following a short pursuit, the car was brought to a stop in Grays, Essex and five women were arrested.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of more than 450 items, suspected to be stolen from seven stores, and the seizure of the car.
An investigation was assisted by local businesses and local council CCTV operators.
Katlyin Connors, aged 20, of Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, and a 17-year-old girl from Slough were each charged with five counts of theft in relation to the incident. Ann Connors, aged 33, of Slough, Berkshire, and Bobby Young, aged 32, of Ilford, Greater London were also charged with four counts of theft each.
The women are bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 21 May 2024.
A woman in her 50s from Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, was released without charge.
Investigating officers believe a further suspect may have been involved in the incident and have released a CCTV image of a woman who may be able to assist with enquiries.
Anyone who recognises the woman pictured is urged to call the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/YY/11700/24.
