Owner of coin collection sought

The rightful owner of a coin collection is being sought after officers discovered it during an arrest.

Officers stopped the van after it came to their attention in Gravesend on 24 February 2024. The collection was found in the back and it is thought it may have been stolen from east Kent.

The collection includes various coins in two blue velvet cases as well as commemorative postcards.

PC Nick Lingham of Kent Police’s Rural Task Force said: ‘We believe this collection has been stolen as part of a burglary.

'Somebody has put a lot of time and effort into collecting these items and we would really like to reunite this collection with this person. Anyone who recognises it will have to provide proof that it belongs to them before we can release it.’

The driver, a man in his 30s from Portsmouth, was arrested in connection with bulk shoplifting offences and has since been bailed until 22 March.
