A CCTV image has been released by officers investigating a report of a racially aggravated assault on a man in Canterbury.
Kent Police was called to the incident in the city centre at around 6.45pm on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
The victim was walking along Northgate and became aware of a man he did not know, walking in the same direction.
Both turned into Broad Street. It is reported that the unknown person made comments about the victim, before assaulting him. The suspect left in the direction of St Gregory’s Road.
Officers attended the scene. The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to a local hospital for treatment to a head injury. He was later discharged.
Investigators have completed several lines of enquiry and have obtained a CCTV image of a man who they wish to speak to, since he may have important information. They have not been able to identify him and are now asking members of the public if they can assist.
Anyone who recognises him and those with relevant information should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/114970/26.
