Renewed appeal into stabbing in Tunbridge Wells

Detectives are renewing an appeal for information as part of an ongoing investigation into a stabbing in Tunbridge Wells.

A 16-year-old boy is currently remanded in custody facing a charge of attempted murder, following the incident at Grosvenor and Hilbert Park.

The assault took place at around 2.30pm on Wednesday 1 June 2022, when the victim and friends had been playing football around the skatepark area.

The victim, aged 18, was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged.

The suspect who has been charged is remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 4 July.

An investigation has also led to the arrests of four other teenage boys in connection with the incident, who are currently bailed to return to a police station.

Detective Inspector Jim Farley said: ‘This area is generally a very safe and popular place to visit and whilst we are treating the assault as an isolated incident we still believe there may be witnesses who have yet to contact us and who may have important information. ‘Our enquires include establishing the movements of anyone who may have been involved, including when they entered or left the park, prior to and after the assault. ‘You may have noticed something which perhaps may not have seemed that important, however even the most minor detail can sometimes assist our investigations so please don’t hesitate to contact us.’
