Members of Dover district’s rural community are being urged to remain vigilant following reports of thefts.
Autumn is traditionally a time when rural crime increases, and officers from Kent Police’s Rural Task Force are continuing to tackle those offences that have a disproportionate impact on farming communities. These include thefts of plant and vehicles as well as wildlife offences like poaching and hare coursing.
Officers are investigating two recent reports of theft at farms in the Dover district.
Between 6pm on Sunday 28 September and 7am the following morning, it is reported that multiple people entered a farm in Wingham after cutting through a metal fence. It is alleged a vehicle was driven across the property before machinery keys and other items were stolen, including a solar battery.
In a separate incident on Saturday 3 October, it was reported that several buildings at a farm in Ash were broken into at around 9pm. Generators, electrical cables and a large quantity of fuel have been reported stolen.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/164277/26 for the Wingham incident, and 46/164448/26 for the Ash incident.
