Officers investigating a collision involving a police vehicle on the M20 near Charing are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Shortly after 11pm on Monday 14 September 2026, an unmarked patrol car, a blue Skoda Octavia was travelling on the coastbound carriageway between Junctions 8 and 9 when it was involved in a collision with a blue Nissan Qashqai travelling in the same direction.
The police car had its lights and siren in use as the officer was driving to an emergency call regarding a fatal collision in Tilmanstone.
No serious injuries were reported and the three occupants of the second car were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
As part of their enquiries, officers are keen to locate and speak to the driver of a heavy goods vehicle which was reported to be in the area at the time of the collision. It was described as having a white trailer and was travelling in lane 1 when the collision took place in lane 2.
Anyone with dashcam footage is also encouraged to get in touch.
