Suspected Strood shoplifter charged

A suspected shoplifter has been charged with multiple theft offences in Strood.
Toni Cooney, 29, of no fixed address, has been charged with seven counts of theft from a shop after cosmetics were reported to have been stolen.
The thefts took place at the same business in Strood High Street between 11 November 2023 and 6 January 2023.
An additional charge of attempted theft from a shop was also authorised after a supermarket in Strood reported a woman attempting to steal more than £280 of razor blades.
On Monday 9 January Ms Cooney appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court via video link where she was remanded in custody. She is due to appear before the same court on Wednesday 18 January.
