A woman has been arrested following a report a pensioner had a quantity of cash stolen while using an ATM in Maidstone.
On 31 January 2023, the victim entered Lloyds Bank in Week Street where he inserted his card into a cash machine.
At this point, he was distracted by a man who started speaking to him. The victim, who is in his 70s, later found £500 had allegedly been withdrawn without his knowledge.
An investigation was commenced by the Kent Crime Squad and, on Thursday 9 March, a woman was arrested in connection with the incident.
Chantal Ahmed, of Mayville Road, Ilford, Greater London was later charged with conspiring with another to commit fraud.
The 54-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 10 March where she was remanded to Maidstone Crown Court on 5 April.
