Arrest made by detectives investigating Ashford assault

An arrest has been made as part of an investigation into a suspected serious assault in Ashford.

Police were called at 5.12am on Sunday 13 September 2026 to an area of Lower High Street, close to a water fountain and the St Johns Lane alleyway where they spoke to a man in his 30s with injuries.

Officers were notified later the same morning that paramedics had attended to the man whose condition worsened. He was taken to a London hospital where his condition remains critical.

An 18 year old man from Ashford has since been arrested on suspicion of assault. He currently remains in custody pending further enquiries.

An investigation is ongoing and a police cordon by the St Johns Lanes alleyway remains in place.
