A man has been arrested following a report of a sexual assault in Canterbury.
On Friday 24 May 2024 at around 10am, a man is reported to have approached a teenage girl whilst she sat on a bench, in a walkway connecting Northgate with the Sainsbury’s car park on Kingsmead Road. The man attempted to offer the girl money and to engage her in conversation before touching her inappropriately over her clothing.
Investigations by officers led to the arrest the following day of a 70-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are appealing for witnesses, and anyone who might have information relevant to the investigation, to come forward.
