Bike returned within 48 hours of it being reported stolen

Officers in Gillingham arrested a suspected thief and returned a bike to its owner within 48 hours of it being reported stolen.

At around 2pm on Wednesday 24 May 2023, a teenager reported he had been approached by another boy who punched him and stole his bike. The incident had allegedly occurred a few days earlier while he was riding it in Woodlands Road, Gillingham, on Sunday 21 May.

Arrested

Following initial enquiries, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday 25 May and has since been released on bail until Tuesday 22 August.

The bike was returned to its owner on Friday morning, less than two days after the incident was reported.
