Bike seized and warnings issued in Canterbury operation

Officers in Canterbury have seized a motorbike and issued warnings to riders during an operation to target off-road bikes.

Following recent reports of nuisance motorbikes in the Littlebourne Road area of the city, officers from the Community Safety Unit attended the area on Sunday 5 March 2023.

Plain-clothes and uniformed officers worked with a police drone pilot to identify the location of off-road bikes being ridden dangerously or in an anti-social manner.

The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Ministry of Defence, whose land is nearby the location.

Taking action

One bike was seized due to it not being insured and nine people were issued with Community Protection Warnings, designed to stop them from continued anti-social behaviour. Failure to comply with the warning can lead to a court summons and a potential fine.

Inspector Paul Stoner, of Canterbury Community Safety Unit, said: 'Kent Police understands the impact of nuisance motorbikes and we will use every tool open to us to hold those responsible to account.

'We will continue to carry out operations of this kind and anyone found to be breaching the warnings issued this week can expect to face further action.'
