Police in Ashford have seized around 300 cannabis plants following a fire at a rural industrial site.
Kent Police was alerted at around 11.30pm on Friday 15 March 2024 to a suspected cannabis cultivation at an address in Bethersden Road, Smarden, where a fire had also been reported.
Officers attended and the fire was extinguished by Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who made the area safe. There were no reported injuries.
Police later removed a large number of cannabis plants and associated growing equipment from the site.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and to identify those behind the cannabis cultivation.
