Charges have been authorised against a man after a military silhouette in Ramsgate was damaged.
Kent Police was called at 5.04pm on Friday 29 May 2026 after a man was reported to have been seen with what appeared to be a weapon near West Cliff Promenade, Ramsgate.
Officers swiftly attended the area and a man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Patrols later established that the man had snapped off a rifle which belonged to one of the 338 ‘Standing with Giants’ silhouettes which are currently in place around Ramsgate harbour.
The installations will be around the historic harbour until the end of June to represent every 1,000 soldiers rescued from the beaches in Dunkirk in Operation Dynamo.
Kaine McCullum, of Northdown Road, Cliftonville, has been charged with criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, common assault and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
The 39 year old is due to appear at Margate Magistrates' Court on Monday 1 June.
