Cosmetics worth £2,500 have been recovered by officers responding to a suspected bulk shoplifting in Maidstone.
Five people were arrested after an alert was raised on the MaidSafe radio-operated monitoring system, which is linked to businesses throughout the town and helps detect and combat crime.
Police were called at around 5pm on Monday 30 September 2024, to suspicious activity at Boots in Fremlin Walk.
Patrols stopped a Volkswagen Golf at a location near Fairmeadow and a search led to the recovery of several large bags containing makeup, medicinal products and confectionery.
Cristian Vaduva Dumitru, 21, of Bradwell Avenue, Dagenham and Cristina Vaduva, 21, of no fixed address, were both charged with theft.
They are bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 18 October.
Two teenage boys and a teenage girl remain under investigation and were bailed to return to a police station on 5 October.
