Court appearance for suspected Tonbridge fraudster

Neighbourhood officers have swiftly arrested a man suspected of using a stolen bank card in Tonbridge.
During the evening of Thursday 25 January 2024, a victim reported his car had been broken into whilst parked in Avebury Avenue.
He also informed Kent Police a wallet had been taken from the vehicle’s glove box and a bank card was later used to make fraudulent purchases at shops in the town centre.
Local constables visited three businesses where items valued at more than £100 had been obtained.
On Sunday 29 January, a suspect was located and arrested. Officers also seized some cannabis.
Bobby Thorpe, of Royal West Kent Avenue, Tonbridge was later charged by investigators from the town's Victim Based Crime Team with three counts of fraud, dishonestly handling stolen property and possession of cannabis.
The 31-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 February.
