A ‘Crimestoppers Zone’ has been launched in Chatham to remind residents of alternative ways in which they can report criminal behaviour.
Crimestoppers is an independent charity that allows people to provide information without speaking to the police or providing their details.
Residents living in the Bryant Street, Whittaker Street and Church Street areas of Chatham have been receiving fliers to raise awareness of the service, with new signs also being installed in several key locations.
Sergeant Sasha Blomfield of the Medway Community Safety Unit said:
‘We are working with our partners including Medway Council and mhs homes to tackle the causes of crime and antisocial behaviour in this part of Chatham, for the benefit of all who live there. ‘We understand that not everybody feels comfortable reporting their concerns directly to the police, which is why Crimestoppers provides such an invaluable service. We hope this new Crimestoppers Zone will help build confidence among local people about reporting incidents and deterring criminals from committing offences.’
You can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form on the Crimestoppers website.
