More than 25 motorists were stopped in Kent during a 2 day operation targeting drivers using their mobile phones at the wheel.
Officers from Kent Police's Road Safety Unit used a specialist unmarked HGV to proactively spot motorists seen driving in an unsafe manner on Kent's motorways on September 21 and 22.
Out of the 29 motorists stopped, 10 were issued graduated fixed penalty notices for using their mobile phones whilst driving. Meanwhile, other drivers were stopped and penalised for not wearing seatbelts, having no registration plate, driving without due care and not being in proper control of the vehicle.
Chief Inspector Craig West, Head of Roads Policing, said: 'This is a joint operation with National Highways which we regularly take part in to keep people safe on Kent's roads.
'Once again, officers have identified a number of motorists who were putting themselves and others at risk by breaking the law whilst driving.
'We will continue to find those drivers and take action against them to ensure they face the consequences of their actions.'
