A drug dealer who tried to conceal 100 wraps of heroin and cocaine beneath his moped before ramming a police car and assaulting an officer has been jailed.
Officers on patrol in Dartford on 9 June 2026 spotted the moped being ridden at speed along Thames Road. They followed the vehicle as it continued onto Priory Road, where it stopped on two occasions to carry out what were later identified as drug deals.
When officers moved in to arrest the rider, Kye Ginnelly attempted to flee through a narrow gap between a police vehicle and a wall. He then deliberately rammed the police car in a further bid to escape before being detained. During the arrest, an officer was assaulted.
A search of the moped uncovered 100 wraps of heroin and cocaine taped underneath the vehicle. Officers also seized £130 in cash, cannabis and mobile phones following a search of Ginnelly.
The 23 year old, of Wolsley Close, Dartford, admitted two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. Further charges of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, dangerous driving, criminal damage, handling stolen goods, driving with false registration plates and assaulting an emergency worker were ordered to lie on file.
At Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday 21 October, Ginnelly was jailed for 3 years and 7 months.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jared Williams said: ‘The supply of drugs causes significant harm to individuals, families and communities. Ginnelly's criminality extended beyond drug dealing and included dangerous driving and violence towards a police officer carrying out their duty. ‘This prison sentence has removed a prolific offender from the streets and prevented further class A drugs from being sold in our community. We remain committed to disrupting those involved in the drugs trade across Kent.’
