Dispersal orders will be in place in Medway over the weekend to tackle nuisance vehicles.
The orders will operate from 6pm on Friday 20 January until 6pm on Sunday 22 January and cover the Medway City Estate, as well as areas in the Hoo Peninsula and Strood Retail Park.
The orders are being implemented as a direct result of information received indicating there could be large gatherings of car enthusiasts, which in the past have resulted in dangerous and antisocial driving and behaviour.
Whilst in force, the dispersal orders allow officers to stop anyone involved in anti-social behaviour and move them on from the area and seize vehicles. People who ignore instructions to leave can be arrested.
Sergeant Steve Holpin from the Medway Community Safety Unit said:
‘We will continue to act on information which suggests these gatherings as they can have a disproportionate and negative impact on the local communities. ‘Those who persistently cause a nuisance risk having their vehicles seized and being arrested.’
Anybody who wishes to report instances of antisocial behaviour should report it online via the Kent Police website.
