Domestic abuse charity benefits from Property Fund

A charity which helps victims of domestic abuse has received a boost from the Kent Police Property Fund.

Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services (DAVSS), which provides support to any victims of domestic abuse, aged 16 years and above, in west Kent has been given £1,000 from the auction of seized property.

Acting Inspector Jon Turtle from the Tonbridge Community Safety Unit presented a cheque to the charity’s chief executive Sam Haspell. The money will be used to provide Christmas presents for children who have been displaced from their homes due to domestic violence.

Items seized during police operations are auctioned off by the fund and officers can apply to a panel to give some of the proceeds to a charity of their choice.

A/Insp Turtle said: ‘The property fund is an excellent way for Kent Police to support local charities. This donation will go a long way to helping victims of domestic abuse and I am pleased we have been able to help.’
