A charitable organisation in Medway dedicated to assisting the families of military personnel and the wider community has received a donation of £1,000 from Kent Police.
Brompton and Invicta Military Wives Choir brings women who have armed forces connections together from all over the county, to sing and support each other.
The choir participates in various events throughout the year and ensures members have a network of friends to call on when experiencing the challenges that come with military life.
The money was made available by the force’s Property Fund, which distributes money from the sale of unclaimed lost property or items seized during police operations.
Money raised from the fund is given to local groups which provide a service to communities in Kent throughout the year.
Lieutenant Colonel John Newton said:
'The choir is a really important part of our military community, which provides a space for some of our families to get together and support each other. We're really proud of it, and incredibly grateful to Kent Police for this exceptionally kind donation.'
Superintendent Nick Sparkes from Kent Police added:
‘There are many military bases across the county and we ensure the liaison between local officers and armed forces personnel is both regular and supportive. The Brompton and Invicta Military Wives Choir is a brilliant organisation that I know is of great assistance to all those who are involved.
‘The members are also active in the local community and I am delighted to hand over this cheque on behalf of the Kent Police Property Fund so that their outstanding work can continue.’
