Emergency medical packs given to group in Ashford

Police in Ashford, together with Ashford Borough Council, have given emergency medical kits to Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), which regularly works with young people across the district.

Representatives from both the council and Kent Police, which together make up the town's Community Safety Partnership, presented six emergency trauma packs to CACT on Friday 4 March 2022, joining them into the county-wide initiative.

The packs contain medical equipment which can be used by emergency services, CACT staff and others in the event of someone being seriously injured.

CACT will take the packs with them during their work around Ashford and elsewhere in Kent so they can be used should there be a medical emergency, such as a response to a road collision or any other incident.

Sergeant Katie Lane, of Ashford Community Safety Partnership, said: 'I hope these medical packs are never required, but it is reassuring for our officers and our community to know that they are in these locations, ready to be called upon should they ever be needed.

'The more locations we can secure for packs like these in our community, the more likely it is that responders will have the equipment they need in the case of an emergency.

'The scheme also teaches basic lifesaving skills to those involved so that they can help people should the need arise, wherever they are.'

Paul Robinson, CACT's Crime Reduction and Mentoring Manager, added: 'We have been working closely together with Kent Police for a number of years now, and we are grateful for the support of them and Ashford Borough Council.

'The emergency medical kits will help to provide reassurance to our staff members when delivering sessions to young people that they have the best equipment, should they need to use it.'
