Gillingham pensioner sees brutal burglar jailed

A Gillingham pensioner has seen a brutal burglar who targeted his home jailed.

Jack Dallas broke into the victim’s house near Begonia Avenue, Twydall with two associates during the evening of 9 January 2026.

The homeowner, a man in his 70s, was woken by the criminals who were wearing ski-masks and demanding to know where he kept his cash.

When the distressed victim replied he didn’t have any, one of the men held a zombie knife to his throat and punched him several times before the offenders fled the house.

The victim suffered facial cuts and bruises and the police were alerted. Whilst an investigation was underway, a forensic team recovered DNA from a mark on the doorway into the property.

This proved to belong to Dallas, of Trinity Road, Gillingham, and he was arrested on 19 March with a quantity of cocaine. He was later charged with aggravated burglary and possession of a class A drug.

Court

The 25 year old admitted to both offences at Maidstone Crown Court and on Friday 24 July was jailed for 8 years and 3 months. He will also remain on licence for 3 years and 4 months when he becomes eligible for parole.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Harry Groves, said:

‘Dallas’ victim was not only brutally harmed by these callous criminals, but he has also been left terrified in his own home and the impact on him will be long lasting. ‘Dallas and his associates are despicable cowards who chose to target a vulnerable victim who would be unable to fight back. ‘It is only right that one of them has been tracked down and is now serving a lengthy prison sentence. I hope this knowledge can give his victim some form of closure.’
