A jail term has been imposed on a man who sexually assaulted a schoolgirl in Folkestone.
Callum Maycock approached the victim near Foord Road on the morning of Thursday 27 June 2024 and made inappropriate comments to her.
He then touched her inappropriately, causing the victim to run away and report the incident, prompting a police investigation.
Officers patrolled the area the following day and spotted Maycock, who matched the description given by the victim, and he was arrested 24 hours after the offence took place.
The 21 year old, formerly of Foord Road South, was charged with and later admitted sexual assault.
At Canterbury Crown Court on Friday 15 November, he was sentenced to two years in prison, a 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a 10 year restraining order.
Detective Sergeant David Hinwood said:
'Protecting women and girls is an absolute priority for Kent Police and we will relentlessly pursue anyone who poses them harm. 'The quick actions of police following this troubling incident saw the offender swiftly identified, arrested and brought to justice. 'I would like to praise the victim and her family for their assistance during the investigation and I hope the court orders imposed as part of this sentence protect the public in future.'
