Jail sentence for offender who posted intimate images online

An offender from Herne Bay who subjected a woman to ‘revenge porn’ has been jailed.

Threats

James Finch carried out four months of escalating abuse against his victim including the non consensual sharing of intimate images. Over the course of multiple months, he bombarded her with hundreds of unwanted messages and calls, repeatedly threatening to kill both her and members of her family.

Finch went on to upload multiple intimate photos of her to social media without consent, even going as far as changing his profile picture to one of the images so it would be visible to all his contacts.

In a series of videos sent to the victim, investigators discovered that Finch had threatened to break her jaw and burn plastic onto her skin. In a separate voice message, he expressed a wish for one of her young relatives to ‘die in a car crash.’

Arrested

She reported the stalking and harassment to police, and Finch was arrested on 29 October 2025 and remanded in custody.

Finch, 36, of High Street, Herne Bay, later pleaded guilty at court to stalking, making threats to kill, and intentionally sharing an intimate image without consent.

He was sentenced on Tuesday 6 January 2026 at Canterbury Crown Court to two years in prison. Upon release, he will be subject to a five year restraining order.

Her continued support with the investigation has helped to ensure that Finch was brought to justice for his vile actions.’
