A suspected shoplifter has been charged and remanded following a theft from a department store in Maidstone.
Kent Police was called at around 3pm on Saturday 17 February 2024 to a report of a theft from House of Fraser in Fremlin Walk. It is alleged that a man entered the store and took clothing items worth more than £300 before exiting the store without paying.
The man also reportedly threatened the shop’s security guards when challenged.
Vincent Oladokun, of Creffield Road, Acton, was later charged with theft from a shop, failing to provide a sample for a class A drugs test, and common assault.
The 43-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 19 February, where he pleaded guilty to failing to provide a sample, but denied the other charges.
He has since been bailed pending a further hearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 16 October.
